Hello!

I’m Jenn Colgan, mom of three kids all under the age of 7 and owner of Katie’s Charms. Welcome to My Charming Life!

I’m a native New Yorker who moved to the Boonies of New Jersey after marrying the love of my life. I’m half-Italian, half-mutt (although I will continue to embrace the Brooklyn Italian part of me forever. Fugghedaboudit!)

So proper, even at age 6.

My man didn’t come along until I was in my late 20′s, so I spent my early adulthood running amok in the streets of NYC. I built a pretty solid career in print advertising, and started life with my new husband in a little one bedroom, 4th floor walk-up in Brooklyn. (Yo!)

Then we moved to New Jersey.

Not just New Jersey, but the WOODS.

Just a small corner of our backyard. Cozy, no?

I went from noisy neighbors and rats in the street to multiple black bear encounters, mammoth-sized spiders and herds of deer…and squirrels…and groundhogs…and foxes.

Seriously, there’s only a certain amount of wildlife a girl can take.

But I live with it all, because of these people:

 My babies, aka – my bosses

I hope you enjoy my blog! I write about all the things I deal with while trying to run a business and take care of my kids at the same time. So yeah – it can be pretty crazy!

In Business Stuff, I try to help other “mompreneurs” make the most of their business. I’m still not really comfortable with that term, but…I’m a mom, I’m an entrepreneur…so I use it.

Here I share any tips or tricks I find that help me do my work easier. I also share mistakes lessons learned, so that you don’t have to repeat them!

In Family Life, I talk about…well…my family life! I try to show how I manage to keep my kids fed and relatively clean while answering customer questions and filling orders. It’s not easy, but hey – I am woman. Roar!

I do like to do giveaways sometimes, mostly of my own stuff, but I’ll also host giveaways for other mom-owned businesses.
