Two Weeks Until BlogHer ’12 aka “AAAHHH!!”
BlogHer ’12 is two weeks away.
*GULP*
Inside my head, all I can think is…
“AAAAAHHHH!!!”
I’m a bit overwhelmed here. The more I read about the conference, the more I scream in my head.
I have my business cards.
I have a cute new tote bag coming with my business logo on it.
I’ve informed the husband that he will be in charge for a couple of days.
I thought I was ready…but then I read about parties and keynote speakers and sponsors upon sponsors upon sponsors….and I start to freak out!
Help me, please! If you’ve been to BlogHer before, give me some words of wisdom! Do I have to sign up for the lunches and sessions?? How the heck do I meet people??? Should I pack snacks?
And of course if you’re going, let me know – this way when you see me mumbling to myself and looking a bit frantic, you can at least say, “OH, there she is!”
PS – How do you like the new blog digs?
PPS – What the heck am I going to WEAR to BlogHer?? Now I’m freaking out even more…

If you have a full conference pass, breakfast and lunch are included (as are the cocktail parties in the evening). There will be LOTS of snacks handed out in the Expo Hall. LOTS.
As for meeting people, just stretch out your hand and say, “Hi. I’m new here. Do you mind if I sit with you?” A smile goes a long way! When meeting official sponsors say, “Hi. I really like your products” or “I’d like to know more.”
Breathe, soak it in and ENJOY!

What Momo said! Don’t worry! If you have business cards, a cute bag, and childcare you’re probably ahead of the game. There’s not a single thing you need to sign up for that’s important. Everything official is open to anyone with a badge. You will meet SO many people and you WILL have a great time.

I haven’t been, but it sounds like a blast! Lady, you have three little children. I’d just relax and enjoy the ride. Take a few good books that you’re REALLY looking forward to reading in peace and you’ll have more friends and invitations than you know what to do with!
At least that’s how it works for me with these things, LOL — enjoy

I’ve never been to BlogHer but I have been to a conference. I know it’s going to all seem crazy and overwhelming but it’s going to be so much fun!
And what everyone said, no RSVPs needed or signing up for the regular official BlogHer stuff. I’m really excited and yay that Patty introduced us! Let’s make sure we meet up – we may have to exchange cell #s or we’ll lose one another in the crazy crowds! Chat soon!

You don’t have to sign up for anything (but for the really HOT sessions, you might want to get there early to get a good seat). The best way to meet people is to just… meet people. But a really easy, no-pressure way to do that is during meals. Never sit down at an empty table. Go over to a random person/group of people and ask “Can I sit here?” Instant new blogger friend. 99% of people at BlogHer are awesome. If you accidentally come across any of that ONE percent that isn’t friendly/warm/open/welcoming… we guarantee there’s someone who will be that way only a few feet away from them, so don’t take it personally and just seek out “your people”.
You don’t need to pack snacks (between the included meals, the parties, and the Expo Hall, you will never go hungry – we owe Jimmy Dean especially for that one) but if you have dietary restrictions then it doesn’t hurt to stash one or two small treats you can eat in your hotel room. Also, don’t forget that it’s NYC so there are a zillion restaurants and shops EVERY WHERE.

Thanks so much! I’m a formerly native New Yorker, so I know the area well and am comfortable with that part. Hey, at least I have that going for me!

I’m so glad as well! Since you are a former NY’er like me, we can try to hit some spots outside the Hilton, too!
Email me at jenn[at]katiescharms[dot]com and we can coordinate!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Also, stopping by via Sits! I’ve asked myself the same exact questions, except for the snack thing. I figured they’ll be so much swag and a lot of it will be snacks. Plus, there’ll be a luncheon. I checked out some youtube videos on what bloggers have gotten in the past. I’ve also thought about what to wear. I’ll actually be commuting back and forth each day. So, I think I’ll bring along a bag with an extra change of clothes in case. I don’t think you have to sign up for anything except for “Geek Bar.” But, I’ve heard from other bloggers that they had no problems walking in.

I’m thinking of a change of clothes as well! I’m coming in from Staten Island, so I’m commuting like you! Thanks for the tips, hope to run into you there!
