How To Make Killer Facebook Cover Images
If you have your own business or write a blog, you’ve probably already figured out that Facebook is an important part of getting the word out. As I get to know other bloggers and mompreneurs, one thing I’ve noticed is that their Facebook cover images can be a bit…well…like this:
It’s fuzzy or pixelated! Ack!
I’m going to show you a way to fix your Facebook cover images so they are sharp and all professional looking.
(My business’ Facebook page just hit 10,000 fans this weekend, by the way!)
Fix your Facebook Cover Images With Good Editing Software
Before we can do that, though, you need a decent image editing tool. I’ve been using Paint Shop Pro for many, many years, and it does the job at a very good price. You can download a free trial version right now, and then buy it later…
Okay, got your Paint Shop Pro up and running? Good!
Now, you’ll also need images that are BIG, as in pixel size…they should be at least 600 pixels in height and width, if not more. If you use small pictures, then you’ll get the same fuzzy results.
Okay? Here we go!
1. Go to “file” and select “New…”
2. Set the size to 1702 pixels wide and 630 pixels high. This is double the actual size of the Facebook cover images. By making it bigger, when Facebook shrinks it down to fit, it will keep it nice and sharp. It will, I promise!
3. Click OK.
Now, you can create your image. You can start from scratch with some copy, or you can cut and paste a picture…whatever you’d like. Just remember it needs to be SHARP when you place it in the larger image area, so it will need to be BIG…at least 600 pixels wide or high, if not more.
I decided to cut and paste my Blog Header:
